Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is a model of medicine in which the practitioner uses blood work, imaging, and other similar labs to make a personalized, patient-based plan for care. It is a science-based approach to medicine that partners patients and practitioners together to identify and treat the root cause of disease.
For patients with complex cases, for whom acupuncture and Chinese medicine alone may not provide optimal results, we may suggest weaving in an allopathic point of view – and this is where functional medicine comes in.
There are a variety of tests (hormone panels, stool analysis, food sensitivities, environmental toxins like mold, pesticides, and heavy metals, etc.) that can support us in diagnosis, treatment, and recommendations. We consider this approach the best of East and West!
All of our practitioners are skilled at reading standard blood work. For more in-depth testing, Dr. Jen Riegle, ND, lends her expertise to support many of our Flourish patients through integrative care. Click here to find out more.
